Yvonne and Blueline Design have work with numerous contractors over the years. Throughout those years we have established relationships with many in the local contractor community. If you do not have an established relationship with a contractor we can help you by providing the names of reputable companies. If you have a medium to large project it is considered common and prudent practice to get at lease to two to three bids. You may not always want the lowest bid. There are other consideration you should also use when making your decision which contractor to hire.
One primary consideration is quality of work and reputation of the contractor. Long after the money is spent you will want to be living with good quality craftsmanship. Nothing can be more frustrating than to have spent a great deal of money and then live in a home with low quality work.
At times you may need a company that can get to the job quickly or one that can meet a certain finish date once they start. Some of the people you interview may be able to get on the job right away and others may require you wait. If it is winter you may need your contractor that can get the roofing work done quickly in-between storms or has access to contractor quality roofing tarps. You should also know that going with a small company does not mean you will sacrifice speed. If the contractor focuses all his resources on your project you will very often see quick results. Also small companies often have access to numerous subcontractor that can help them get-in and get-out. You will want to find a contract you can trust. Also think about how well you are able t get along with the prospective contractors. You may be married to them for a while so find one that complements your personality.
